Style

By Mark Flanagan, About.com

Definition: Style is the way in which an author uses words that give his or her work a distinctive manner of expression. It is the combined qualities that distinguish one writer's work from another.
Examples: Hemingway's use of short words and simple construction make his style markedly different from that of his contemporary, F. Scott Fitzgerald.
